SUPPORT CHARLES SANTIAGO'S COURT ACTION AGAINST THE EC
The law suit between Charles Santiago and Electoral Commission (SPR).
On 27th February 2013, YB Charles Santiago filed a law suit against the Malaysian Electoral Commision (EC). The reason for the law suit is due to several irregularities found on the P110 Klang voter roll. Some of the irregularities include :
- About 2,000 voters being deleted from P110 Klang in a four year period.
- More than 3,457 voters being transferred out of P110 Klang
- A number of people were registered as voters even though they themselves has never registered.
- A number of voters were moved due to “boundary correction”.
- Some houses in Klang have unusually large number of voters registered on them. In many cases the present occupants do not know them.
The lawsuit involves filing a judicial review to compel the EC to clean up the electoral roll, i.e. for the court to instruct the EC to clean up the electoral roll. This Thursday, the High Court will decide if there will be a hearing for the judicial review application.
